Genyemon
The history of Japanese wood carving dates back to the 6th century. At that time, carvings were handled by master carpenters, but in the Edo period, Miyabori, who specialized in carving, emerged from among master carpenters. The carving shop "Genyemon" follows in the footsteps of those shrine carvers. Japan's wood carving industry, which has been around for 1,400 years, is facing challenges in passing on techniques due to a lack of successors.
The carving shop "Genyemon" will strive to make this wonderful Japanese wood carving culture known to people around the world, become a figure admired by young Japanese people, and pass on the technology to future generations.
